“Funky Diary” is a gripping road trip led by music journalist Diane Marois, who followed French funk artist Dabeull on a tour of the Chicanos neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
For the first edition of The Merode Music Club, radio host Diane Marois presents “Funky Diary”, the story of a wild week in Los Angeles (Mini documentary series).
Diane takes us into the streets of the City of Angels, diving into the roots of Funk Music and Chicanos culture. The documentary follows this culture inherited from gangs and lowriders, studying the relationship between Hip Hop and Funk, the ongoing American gang and police violence, as well as the role of Snoop Dogg in the transmission of musical culture to young people.
The screening of Funky Diary will be followed by a conversation between Diane Marois and Snoop Dogg’s sound engineer, Chris Gutierrez.
